FWF Expands Intermodal Solutions

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – FWF has expanded its intermodal solutions, offering a low-cost alternative to traditional shipping methods by increasing capacity and reducing environmental impact. This expansion positions FWF to further integrate into the market, allowing shippers to access this cost-effective mode of transportation.

In February, FWF hired Nick Terranova as Director of Intermodal Operations, further expanding FWF’s shipping efforts. With over 10 years in the industry, Terranova’s expertise has ushered in partnerships with top asset providers, intermodal marketing companies, and railroads, allowing FWF to provide solutions specific to each shipper’s needs.

Nick Terranova, Director of Intermodal Operations, explains FWF’s intermodal solutions.

“On average, intermodal shipping is 10%-to-15% cheaper than the average truckload shipment. With the expansion of our services, we will enable shippers to save on costs, reduce their carbon footprint, and streamline their transportation strategy,” says Terranova. “Our ongoing partnerships with asset providers and railroads will equip our team to continue delivering sustainable logistics solutions.”

From 2018 to 2021, this mode of transportation saved over 2.3 billion gallons of fuel and eliminated $4.4 billion in shipping costs. In total, the industry generates $51 billion in revenue each year, with over 480,000 drivers and 17 million rail loads moved annually, according to the Intermodal Association of America (IANA).
